Frequently asked questions

How does billing work in Relu?

Relu uses a pay-per-use credit system. Each service has a fixed credit cost, typically 1 credit is 1 EUR, and credits are deducted only when a order is completed or exported. At the end of each month, you receive a bill of all the credits used, and your credit card is charged.

Can I request a refund for a service?

Yes. If a order cannot be processed or the output is unusable due to a technical issue, you can request a refund.

We apply a fair-use refund policy: if a order is not economically viable or the AI-generated design deviates significantly from clinical or technical expectations, you may request a refund.

Refund requests can be submitted directly through the platform. Our team reviews each request to ensure transparency and continuous improvement of the AI workflows.

To request a refund:

  1. Open the order in Relu
  2. Click “Request refund”
  3. Provide a short explanation

Our support team will review the request and restore credits where applicable.

What happens if the AI cannot complete my order?

If the system cannot generate a reliable automated proposal, you will not be charged. Failed orders can be re-uploaded, but you might first need to improve scan quality to make it work.

How do I adjust my design after the AI proposal?

Every service includes basic built-in editing tools accessible directly in your browser. Depending on the workflow, you can:

  • Modify margins and trimlines
  • Adjust base thickness or hollowing settings
  • Sculpt or refine block-outs
  • Edit implant positions or angulations
  • Correct landmarks or alignments

All edits are immediately reflected in the 3D viewer.

Can I override AI decisions if needed?

Absolutely. Relu keeps the dental professional in complete control. You can manually adjust any step before approving or exporting the final model or plan.

Can I rerun the AI if I make changes?

Yes. Some services allow you to re-run the automated proposal after adjusting key inputs (e.g., trimming, scan alignment, tooth selection). The platform will notify you when re-running is required.

Which import formats are supported for intraoral scans?

Depending on the workflow, you can import your intraoral scan in the following formats

  • STL (most print-ready models and appliances)
  • PLY (color mesh for visual or diagnostic use)
  • OBJ (optional for external CAD workflows)
  • DCM (format used by some intraoral scanners)
  • DRC (some more exclusive format)

All files are optimized for downstream workflows, including 3D printing and CAD design.

How do I export models with molar ditching?

To export with ditching:

  1. Go to the order tab, and open the viewer for the right order
  2. Review the AI-generated ditching in the viewer
  3. Adjust ditching parameters if needed (depth, width, shape)
  4. Click Export and select the STL option that includes ditching
  5. Your file will be generated with the selected modifications.
Can I export my molar ditching models in both ditched and non-ditched versions?

Yes. You can export multiple versions of the same order - useful when labs want both a clean model and a print-optimized variant.

Relu® Automate vs Relu® Creator vs Relu® Engine?

Relu® Automate: Relu's web application for design automations like dental models, splints, and surgical guides.

Relu® Creator: Relu's web application that also uses the Relu® Engine in the background for segmentation and alignment of CBCT and intraoral scans.

Relu® Engine: an AI component embedded in the background inside of existing dental software for for segmentation and alignment of CBCT and intraoral scans.

Where can I find Relu® Automate?

You can access Relu® Automate by surfing to https://automate.relu.ai

You can use this web app by (1) making an account and (2) uploading your intraoral scan. The AI service will take less than 5 minutes to design a model, splint, or even a surgical guide.

Where can I find Relu® Engine?

The Relu® Engine is intended to help dental software companies develop more powerful software develop faster.

You can find the details to connect with our API here: https://docs.relu.eu/

If you want to get a sense of the capablities of our API, you can try our technology in Relu® Creator: https://creator.relu.ai/

Where can I find the Relu® Creator?

You can access Relu® Automate by surfing to https://creator.relu.ai

You can use this online app by making an account and uploading your CBCT or intraoral scan. The AI service will take 5min to segment your CBCT and align / fuse it with your intraoral scan.

Does the Relu® Engine make use of artificial intelligence?

Absolutely. Relu is a leading expert in deep learning technology for CBCT, digital impressions and facial scans. We have used tens of thousands of manually labelled images to train our AI models to do these manual tasks automatically.
